Ways
to wear your Celebrity Style Pashmina
March marks the start of that
“weird weather season” where there are very cold days and nice mild spring days. It is one of those transitional
months that is a great month to use your vibrant scarves or pashminas to brighten up your drab colored outfits. Break
your habit of wearing your scarf the same way and look at the various ways that you can use or wear your scarf or pashmina.
In the pictures below, the model is wearing just a basic white long-sleeved tee and jeans. Some expamples you have seen
on some of your favorite celebrities. Hollywood loves to wear scarves and pashminas. Check
out how this simple pink pashmina can play up her outfit in so many different ways!
1. The Hang Around.
2. The
Wrap Around. I’m pretty
sure most know how to do this one, but just in case..let the scarf hang down normally as in Way 1 with one side hanging longer
than the other. Take the longer end and wrap around neck. Voila!
3. The
Loop through. Create a loop
with the scarf and place behind head as shown in picture 1 below. Take loose ends and pull them through the loop in
front of neck. You’ve got your loop through. This is a great way to shorten really long scarves.
4. The Shawl or Sash Chilly? Wear your pashmina or scarf as a shawl by wrapping it around your body and under your arms. A classic and sophisticated
way to cover your shoulders when your wearing a cocktail dress. To wear as a sash just sweep one side over the
shoulder and add a brooch it want to add some sparkle.
5. The Bow Bring some Chanel into
your wardrobe and tie your scarf into a bow. A simple way to look tre tre chic. Simply wrap scarf around neck
as normal and tie loose ends into a bow.
6. The Necklace. This look is very in right now and you probably didn’t know you can do it with your scarf! It is so simple.
Simply, wrap your scarf around your neck and tuck loose ends in. Then take a brooch or pin and pin it to one side of
scarf.
7.
The Tube Scarf Turn your outfit
into a completely different one by tying your scarf into a tube scarf. Take the loose ends of your scarf and tie them
into a knot as seen in picture 1 below. Place knotted end behind neck and you are finished! Add a pin or brooch for
some flare as seen in picture 3 below.
Pashmina Care A very important
part of owning any product made of pashmina is caring for it. When it comes to cleaning pashmina shawls, most sellers recommend
bringing them to a professional dry cleaner. This is definitely convenient but there is another way to clean a shawl of this
kind that costs much less ? hand washing them yourself.
You don’t have to be an expert on pashmina to do
this. You just need to know the proper way of doing this alternative cleaning method. There is also no need for special detergents.
Your own hair shampoo will do the trick because like human hair, pashmina is a natural fiber. In fact, pashmina shawls are
made of goat hair.
To start, thoroughly dissolve the hair shampoo in lukewarm water. Then, place the shawl into
the water and start hand washing it carefully. Use hair conditioner when rinsing the shawl to make it even softer. To remove
water, gently squeeze the shawl. Never wring or twist because this will ruin their form. Also, do not use any product with
bleach when washing and always wash colored shawl separately from white ones.
To dry, lay the shawl flat on any
clean surface. Make sure it is not placed where it is exposed directly to sunlight or heat. Take a damp piece of cloth and
use this to press the shawl with. Then, press the cloth with a cool iron.
When you are certain that the shawl
is already completely dry, then you can store it. Make sure the storage place you’ve chosen is not damp or exposed to
sunlight and dust. Otherwise, you will likely find your precious shawls eaten by moths.
Fold the shawl and wrap
it carefully in tissue paper or put it inside a plastic bag. Then, prepare a plastic container, ideally a box, for storage.
Make sure the storage box is dry before placing the shawl inside. You can also use cedar chips or naphthalene balls (mothballs)
to keep moths away.
Aside from careful washing and proper storage, you can protect your pashmina shawls from damage
whenever you use it by making sure not to wear it next to items with abrasive materials such as rough leather or items that
it can possibly get caught with like metal necklaces.
In addition, use your shawl just once or twice a week at
the most. It’s understandable why you would want to use it everyday if you could but remember that it’s a very
delicate item that will not be able to withstand overuse. So, follow the tips above and you will make your prized accessory
last much longer.
